I have to admit that this heatwave might have been a bit too much for me. Dressing up in 30 degrees celsius can be a bit boring. I love layering but in this heat you're pretty much limited to one layer. Since I'm a dress lover it quite often happens, that I'm actually only wearing one piece of clothing. Therefore you really need some nice accessories to spruce up your outfit.

I've spoken about my love for basket bags a few times over here on the blog, but I've been scared to buy one since it's such a trendy piece at the moment. I had been lusting after a Topshop number and I was already on the verge of clicking the bag to my basket (see what I did there?) when I had second thoughts. The bag I was inclined to buy was rather different than the one swinging on my arm right now. It was flat and round cross body bag. When I first saw the bag in February I hadn't seen many bags like it and after I left the store without it I was desperate to find it again or find a similar bag if not the same Topshop one. But I couldn't find a bag like that anywhere and now out of blue everyone on social media is carrying a bag just like that. That is what stopped me from buying it, but I still wanted my basket bag. That's when I saw@emilialehti carrying a lovely basket bag on her arm on her instagram. The bag was from La Petite Sardine and the brand instantly piqued my interest. I checked their web store and decided that I'd much rather support a Portuguese artisan by buying their handmade basket bag than support such mass product as the Topshop bag. Don't get me wrong, I still wear Topshop and all these other mass production clothes, but I try to make better choices whenever I can and this was such an easy one to make. Although there was a difficult decision ahead: choosing the actual bag. I knew I wanted something quite small and dainty. In the end I went for the Maria Lisboa bag in the size small. My phone (iPhone 8+) is actually a bit too big for this one, which is why the bag won't stay shut as you can see in the photos, but it doesn't really bother me. I usually carry my phone, my smaller wallet, sunnies, a lip balm and keys and car keys in this bag and they fit perfectly, still leaving some room. This bag did come with a gold chain so that one could use it as a cross body bag, but considering the shape of the bag I just find it a bit inconvenient so I much prefer to carry the bag on my arm like proper basket.
